The "Die Rheinlandfohlen e.V." supports dedicated animal rescuers in Valencia who care for over 1,000 street cats that would have little chance of survival without human intervention. Due to an unrealistic law, cat colonies are not supposed to be removed, and the cities are responsible for neutering and medical care. However, in practice, this is rarely implemented. Volunteer helpers, known as *Gateros*, care for the animals at their own expense, as municipalities do not contribute to food supplies. The Gandia animal shelter, run by the organization "S.P.A.M.A Safor" on Spain's east coast, is overwhelmed, with over 250 rescued cats in the shelter and another 1,200 on the streets. In addition to rescuing sick or injured cats, they also work to control overpopulation and improve the poor conditions in the colonies.
We are thrilled to share that the urgently needed food has safely arrived at the "Die Rheinlandfohlen e.V." Thanks to your generous support, the many needy cats in the colonies and shelter can continue to be well cared for. Every filled bowl makes a huge difference, and we sincerely thank you for your valuable help! 🐾💚
